I have no idea on how to highlight my hair without looking weird.?

I don't want the streaks (http://cdn-write.demandstudios.com/upload//4000/800/90/4/14894.jpg) and i don't want that random skunk strip either (the one where its just randomly on the side of your head), but i want highlights that are noticeable and natural looking. I have medium colored brown hair. Pictures would be helpful!I have no idea on how to highlight my hair without looking weird.?
Use a comb, and brush the color in. It will be subtle yet noticeable.
