My girlfriend tried to put highlights in her hair, and it didn't go too well, any ideas?

My girlfriend used a do-it-yourself product to put highlights in her hair last night. The result was disasterous as her hair now looks orange and splotchy. It looks really bad. I was thinking that if she died it back a solid color, like dark brown, she should be ok. Or, maybe we should shell out for a hairstylist to fix it. Anyone know what the best way to handle this is?My girlfriend tried to put highlights in her hair, and it didn't go too well, any ideas?
LOL this happened to me before when I was young. Just get a dye kit to match her natural color or go with something new, as long as it is dark enough to blend the colors together. You need to go as dark or darker than her normal color. Good Luck and next time go to the salon. I went dark because I was sick of paying $150 for my highlights. You cannot do them well at home.My girlfriend tried to put highlights in her hair, and it didn't go too well, any ideas?
Okay, the natural way would be to cut it all off. or, go to a stylist...much more expensive, though.
treat her to a professional beautician
next time you guys hangout hold her, and tell her how beautiful she is but tell her it just doesnt feel the same and ask her sweetly to change it back and then make make an excuse and kiss her quikly
a large hat
Put green highlights in it and call it ';punk.';
Apply one shade only. Try Loreal Excellence hair color. It will cover all the highlights and it is very gentle.
if i were her i would go and get another hair dye...cuz i do my hair my self as well...get another hair dye and dye it that color....it should change!! good luck
Tell her to go to a hairstylist . They use better hair colors then the one she bought at the store. And they can fix it definitely .
Have her spend the money at this point a professional is needed.
Well that stinks, but look, please don't dump her. You could put a bandanna in it and it probably will help if the bandana is orange. if that doesn't work try a hat. Still no look, go to the hairdresser, dye her hair to a dark color like brown, black, or ummm, or orange. If it still doesn't work, then go to a hairdresser, and make them put black hair extencions in your girlfriends hair, make sure they put them close to her scalp so any orange left will just look like orange highlites.
OMG!

That happened to me!!!

I was going for blond and it went pink!!!

I kept it tho, I thought it was cool...

But for ur gf maybe use darker color isn't a good idea cuz it'll be paler and will look more terrible...

I would go to a hairdresser..
I think your best bet would be to take her to hair solon or someone who knows how to do hair...but you could buy a do it yourself stripper that will strip the color out of her hair....which is prolly what the salon will have to do.
pay the money to go to a salon...even if she puts a solid color back over the botched do...she can still mess it up...hair chemicals are very sensitive when mixed and she could end up with green hair next time...not to mention everytime she dyes it she's damaging her hair. definitely go to a salon...any other way is too much risk
If you guys like each other it wont get in the way of the relationship... professionals will have the solution and dont try to make matters better by putting it in your own hands... thats how you messed up the first time!!!

Hope i helped...
buy a semi permanent die the same colour as her hair.If she has ginger highlights it is good because there is no chance of it going karky!you may have to repeat the semi after a few washes as it may fade, depends on how porous the hair is!If in doubt seek proffesional advise.Pop into a local salon if your bothered about the cost offer to be a colour correction model!
Its only hair. It'll grow out and you can always dye it again.
What!? Don't dump her! Love her for who she is! Not what colour hair she has!!! She will proberley get that fixed soon anyway! It isen't about looks, You wouden't dump her if you really loved her!
petsmart sells theres dog shears fer pretty cheap..that should do the trick.
Dump her. You deserve a nicer looking girlfriend.
Well i think highlights are very pritty like sooner or leter i'll be getting one!
What may have happened is that she didn't leave the highlight solution on her hair long enough. If she has dark brown hair she would need to keep the solution on longer. I've had highlights before and have dark brown hair and if you don't use the highlight solution right you'll end up with orange streaks instead of blond. But you are correct she will most likely need to dye it back to original color and try again. Or pay out more money and get it professionally done and not worry about it. Good Luck.
You can go both routes. Buy an all over darker color and do it yourself- but I would go to a professional and have them fix it because over-dying your hair can cause it to become very dry and break off. Maybe just call a salon in your area and ask them for any suggestions.
Go to a professional
