I need help with ideas on how to highlight my hair!?

I have pass the shoulder black hair. I really like my hair black but I am wanting something total different with highlights or something. Any ideas or pictures to get ideas from. ThanksI need help with ideas on how to highlight my hair!?
I have dark brown hair and I just go to walmart and get a highlighting kit....the kind with the cap you have to pull your hair through, that way I can choose how many I want and where I want them. But my suggestion for you since you have black hair is to go to a beauty shop and have it done....they are going to be your best bet in making it work.I need help with ideas on how to highlight my hair!?
i use to be like you. i had such dark brown hair that people thought i was black and i hated it. i wanted to get my hair lighter without actually dying it or highlighting it. i went to the store and there is a product called sun in. it act like lemon juice. You can put it all over or just lighten some parts of your hair. But because you like your black hair i wouldn't go change it.

I think you should do chunks of light blonde, dark red and light brown.....
sun in...
Well first of all, I wouldn't suggest coloring your hair yourself, go get it done professionally. Dark hair is very very tricky. But I would suggest maybe some copper, dark brown highlights. It would add some subtle hints of gold, but it would still look natural. You could also add some red tones to your hair. My friend with very very dark hair did that, however she didn't do enough and the results were not that noticeable, thus why you should get it done professionally. Depending on your skin tone, those are the two things I would suggest. If you want to go lighter, it would be a few steps to that process, and the copper/dark brown would be the first step to that. :)
color pink ok
go to the salon
I am so into strawberry blond streaks on glossy black hair...

.
That depends on the type of black hair you have. If it's the true, blue-black hair (black with natural blue highlights), then you would need Peroxide, which is very damaging to any hair type. Look for this ingredient, or variations of it, in highlighting/coloring products (either in salons or do it yourself at home). If you have the black-brown (much darker than dark-brown hair, it's black with variations of natural red-brown highlights, which you can't differentiate from the blue-black 'til you're outdoors), you have more product selections. For the cheapest method, use lemon juice or Sun-In spray (available for less than $4/bottle at Walmart) and just go out in the sun (can be done with a blowdryer, too).. The general rule of thumb to warm up your skin tone is to emphasize (with streaks) of highlights right in the front, around your face. For the most natural-looking highlights, don't do more than 2 shades lighter than your natural highlights. This has worked for my black-brown hair to warm my skin tone, making my face look brighter. I like doing this during the spring %26amp; summer seasons. Not going too light (within 2 shades) gives me the option of letting my hair naturally fade back to the darker tone during the fall and winter seasons.
