I was gonna put bleach blonde highlights in it. But my friend decided to be a ****** and go do that to her hair after I told her I was going to do it. Our hairs about the same length and we both have sideswept bangs (I'm getting them tomorrow. Oh and by the way....Round face with curls.... sideswept bangs or no?). I know we wouldn't look exactly the same but I don't want to be the Barbie twins. So any and all ideas are appreciated. PICTURES WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! =)I have dirty blonde hair. I usually get blonde highlights in it. I need a new idea for what to do with it!!!!?
i dont think swideswept bangs are good for your face shape. Try some soft layers or angle your face.I have dirty blonde hair. I usually get blonde highlights in it. I need a new idea for what to do with it!!!!?
go red
I think blue is great with dirty blonde hair.
Try lowlights or maybe something like purple or pink highlights. The purple will fade out to grey and it looks awesome.
Do lowlights or some stoplight red streaks. Or heck, just dye it all black.
Dye it all blonde and then get brown hilights it looks really good, no matter how long your hair is
hope it looks good-

i would stay away from the bleach blonde highlights now, its too late in the season. we are coming up on fall and winter and anyone who's into fashion knows you go with the colors of the season.
if you darken your base color to a dark blond with low-lights, Carmel highlights that would look amazing. bangs are never out of style. go with the bangs. if you cute your curls as well, try and get a straight/curly friendly hair cut, meaning a cut that will look great straight then look even better curly.

Okay have dark brown hair with honey blonde highlights and I want to dye it black ? is that a good idea?
even tho i dont think ur hair will dont go stright to black go from color stage that ur at to a darker and darker color of what you want and that way if u dont like it when ur almost there most likely ull be able to change the color to something else before u go any darker
I was wondering about putting lemon juice in my hair. I have blond/brown w/ red highlights. It a good idea?
sure. it will just bring out the red and lighten it a tiny bit if you do it everyday. sun helps.I was wondering about putting lemon juice in my hair. I have blond/brown w/ red highlights. It a good idea?
it depends, if u go out in the sun or not.. going out in the sun will most likely fry your hair and bleach it.I was wondering about putting lemon juice in my hair. I have blond/brown w/ red highlights. It a good idea?
If you want your hair to be dry and brittle, absolutely do it. It's citric acid, not lightner.
yes it ismozila

Is it a good idea to do a hot oil treatment on my hair and then get highlights?
You should get the highlights first and then do the hot oil treatment to try and undo some of the damage. Is it a good idea to do a hot oil treatment on my hair and then get highlights?

you haven't even told us what condition ur hair is in so its hard to say..
If ur hair is thin, brittle, damaged or in bad condition then i would NOT suggest getting highlights as bleach will snap off ur hair and make it stringy and straw like.
If your hair has never been dyed before then give it a go.
If ur hair has been dyed within the last 3 months then it should be cool, but def put lots of luxury treatments on and avoid harsh hair drying/straigtening...
Ur best bet would be to get a consultation from ur local salon.. good luck

I really like your hair now but I understand why you would like that other look.My suggestion is that having your hair dyed could damage it a lot but if you really want it bring that picture (the second one) to where your hair is getting dyed, they will dye it the way it's seen hopefully and there you go!I have red hair with blonde highlights now but i want to have ALOT more blonde put in ? good idea?
I like your hair now, and the other one looks kinda fake. I suggest you put some lemon juice in your hair and then go out in the sun for like an hour and your highlights will stand out and look natural. Also, you could put some vineger in your shampoo and wash it into your hair, rinse, then go out in the sun to dry it. I prefer this because you will make your highlights stand out, yet it still looks natural. Redheaded people stand out. They are unique. Why would you wanna follow the crowd?

I want to get red highlights in my naturally medium blonde hair. Bad idea?
I have shoulder length dark blonde hair with 2yr old golden highlights I have red undertones in my hair haturally. I only use aveda hilights and products. I am planning to go to an Aveda beauty school for the highlights. Is this a really bad idea should I stick with blonde highlights?
I cant afford a disaster with long hair!I want to get red highlights in my naturally medium blonde hair. Bad idea?
i think it could look great! you said you were planning on getting them done at the aveda school? i would ask your stylist what they think. they would be able to tell you if your hair is in good enough condition to accept the dye, what it will do over time, how much upkeep you would have to do, and probably whether or not you would look good with the change in color. :DI want to get red highlights in my naturally medium blonde hair. Bad idea?
I vote ';No'; on the red. Because highlights often frame the face, skin color is the most important factor when choosing an accent shade. The wrong highlight color can make your complexion appear too flushed, too pale, or just discolored.
Warm skin tones have hints of peach, pink, or gold, and the skin tans easily and evenly. Rich highlight colors such as straw, light gold, bronze, caramel, or very subtle shades of red complement warm skin.
Individuals with cool skin tones are frequently pale and do not tan easily. Their skin may have blue or gray undertones that are best highlighted and soothed by ash, beige, wheat, taupe, or other subtle highlights.
Ruddy skin tones tend to have strong red undertones and blush easily. Individuals with ruddy tones should avoid red-based highlights that can accentuate their skin, but beige, gold, and honey brown shades are excellent options.
If you have chosen your blonde hair highlight color based on your hair color and skin tone, it will likely already match your eye color as well. As a double check, note that individuals with very light eyes (blue or green) tend to have cool skin tones and should opt for paler highlight colors, while individuals with dark eyes can often choose richer shades.
they may turn out a pinkish color, i wouldnt do it.

if you don't want to scare your customers, don't go too crazy. i had a friend who did her hair black with red highlights and it looked like she poured tar on her head, then had her period on it. =X
dye it black, and not too noticeably red highlights if that's what you want. like have them tinted in there, only able to see them if your staring at you for a long time. you want someone to be like, 'oh, did you get red highlights?'
not, 'wow..your hair is uhm...bright.' xD

Are highlights a good idea for my hair? if so, what colour(s) should i go with?
I'm getting a little bored with my hair, and i thought it'd be kinda fun to get some new colour in there. I don't want to completely change the colour, because it's actually quite nice, but i want it to look a little more interesting. But i'm no expert, so if anyone thinks it's a bad idea, i'd like your input. I would also like advice on what colours would be good for my hair
Also, if you have any tips in general for my hair, i'd be happy to hear those too.
Here's a link to what it looks like at the moment:

Maybe a dirty blond? just add some blond in there! But, just a warning, make sure you get it done buy a professional, not at home. Go to your local hair cut place or whatever and ask if they can get it doneAre highlights a good idea for my hair? if so, what colour(s) should i go with?
I don't think you should get highlights i think you should try straightening it!! You may think its straight but once you straighten it it will probably look really good!! If your mom or sister ahs one get them to do it!! If you like it okay, if not then don't worry about it!!
don't put blue or pink on blonde hair (pink goes orange, and blue goes green)
don't overdo it, because you might end up looking like a chav (and you wouldn't want that)
go for flashes instead! they're more striking, and you cant tell when they're growing outmozila

I am looking for a pink hair dye or highlighting kits but struggling does anybody have a idea where to buy?
LIVE do a hot pink hair dye, coz that's what i used to use, i got mine from boots or superdrug
Your best off going to the hair dressers as it wears off quite quickly and starts to look tacky, that's what i do now and it looks much better.I am looking for a pink hair dye or highlighting kits but struggling does anybody have a idea where to buy?
pink and any ';fashion'; colour will fade faster than any other hair colour mainly because there are all semi perminate colourants. however if you go to sallys hair and beauty you will find a vast range of hair product in pink, like rusk atomic magenta, or beyond the zone, or fudge paintbox, or dezined just take your pick, you can buy stuff in sallys even if your not a professional you just pay the full amount....I am looking for a pink hair dye or highlighting kits but struggling does anybody have a idea where to buy?
Colour Rays by Loreal or however you spell it is AMAZING for exotic colors like pink, purple, blue and other things like that. You can find it at drugstores and mostly anyplace that has a very wide variety of hair color. GL!
hottopic sells pink hairdye.
sally's beauty store sells pink hairdye.
wal-mart sells one kind of special 'highlighting' pink hairdye, at least at my wal-mart it does.

I've dyed my hair lighter a few times, is it a bad idea to get full head highlights?
I've dyed it maybe 3 times to try to get it ash blond, but the dye stopped making it any lighter, it just went a bit gingery... will the same thing happen if I get highlights at a hairdressers?? x xI've dyed my hair lighter a few times, is it a bad idea to get full head highlights?
no a full head of high-lights is a good way in going blonde....I've dyed my hair lighter a few times, is it a bad idea to get full head highlights?
firstly the reason that your hair hasnt gotten lighter than the ginger stage is because OTC colours are formulated for use on natural dark blonde hair - they rely on hydrogen peroxide for lift (which only has the ability to lift 2 shades, its better use is for making a haircolourant permanent by opening up the hairshafts to allow the colour to penetrate and develop) anybody naturally (or un-naturally) darker than dark blonde need to use bleach in order to go blonde. yes a full head of highlights will work because a hardresser in a salon will (hopefully) be smart enough to use bleach. will your hair be able to cope with yet another chemcal process? - only strand tests will tell.
no i dont think so theyre more experienced. i went to one and they said they could dye my 3xdyed black permanently hair blue, which has a base colour of bleached white, all in one sit in';!
I had no idea that lighters had hair (you learn something every day). You do know a lot of those dyes are toxic, don't you?
Unless you use non-chemical ones like henna or chamomile.
no cuz i was a dark brunette and i have been going blonder and the color stays a lot better when you go to the hairdresser : )
u can bleach it if u wanna go very blond but ur hair get thin out and become very dry..best to use a hair mask every week to keepit well conditioned..hope this helps. i went through same problem
DO IT I HAVE DONE IT TO MY HAIR IT TURNED OUT BEAUTIFUL

Is brunette hair with red highlights a good idea?
I have medium/light brown hair and I'm going to get dark red (rouge i think its called) chunks throughout my hair. It's because I'm a rocker girl and I need some sort of an image, I've been wishing to do this for a year and a half now. Do you think it would look good? My hair is shoulder length and im getting it cut a little shorter too, and maybe straightened. What do you think about it?Is brunette hair with red highlights a good idea?
yes that would look awesome. a bunch of my clients have either dark brown hair or black hair and they get dark reds and pinks. it looks great! Is brunette hair with red highlights a good idea?
Red highlights on brown hair can either look horrible or great it all depends on the type of red. If you gave medium/light brown hair then the type of red you should get is more like an auburn red, or something like that! basically any red with brown undertones to it!
I got red put in my hair and i have really dark brown hair almost black and it looked great. I only did it during winter because i live at the beach so i go back to natural during the summer but the red fades very quickly thats the bad thing, otherwise do it.
it would fade.
so it will look cool for while then be gone. l.o.l.
yeah um maybe a carmel or a blonde or orange-y
will look good!
I hope that I helped you! :)
-layla for best answer!
(but probably the blonde or carmel, orange fades too hha ha
If it's medium/light brown, go for blonde and not red. red works best for people with darker natural hair.
I did the same exact thing, it looks great. Problem with red: It fades. But red looks awesome in brown hair :). do it!
dont get red. get platinum blonde

I have no idea what color highlights i should get if i have really blond hair like barbie?
I have hair that is really blond sort of like barbies. But i want to get highlights. What color should i get???? Please help :)I have no idea what color highlights i should get if i have really blond hair like barbie?
platinum but if you already very fair just leave it to be naturalI have no idea what color highlights i should get if i have really blond hair like barbie?
Instead of highlights go for low lights to give dimension to your hair, shade it from caramel to white blonde.
I would go subtle, nothing harsh. Try a light strawberry blond highlight, it will give you a change and the roots won't be too obvious.
You'lll be better off getting low lights. Caramel coloured or copper might suit you- its hard to say without gettin a picture. Look on the internet or go to the hairdressers and ask their opinon. They might have samples of the colour for you to look at.
don't... get lowlights. not brown, but a slightly darker shade of blond then you currently have. It will add dimention. if i can find pics, i will post them for u
ok, the bottom 2 pics on this page(first link) look great (for color anyways)

I had my hair japanese straightened (but not stick straight) 6 months ago. is it a good idea to get highlights?
i had my hair straightened six months ago. and i've been wanting to get subtle highlights just around the front part of my hair. but i have to get my roots retouched. i plan to wait the recommended two weeks, or a bit more after my retouch if i get highlights. should i get them, or would that just really kill my hair? is there anything more gentle if i want highlights?I had my hair japanese straightened (but not stick straight) 6 months ago. is it a good idea to get highlights?
I would consult a stylist because it's hard to say if your hair is stable enough to handle getting highlights after the stress of chemical processes. I personally think that it may leave your hair dried out, the Japanese perms are pretty damaging to the hair, especially over time. I had my hair japanese straightened (but not stick straight) 6 months ago. is it a good idea to get highlights?
Ok so heres the deal.... after you get retouched get a deep conditioning treatment. then after the recomended two weeks you can get the highlights and again get a deep condition. then buy a moisturizing deep conditioner (i recomend Cloud 9 by Sebastion) and do that once a week. and make sure you are using a shampoo and conditioner made for colored hair! FYI my hair gets colored often and a blow dryer and flat iron used on it every day and is just fine because i deep condition it and everything.
you could do it, but be prepared for your hair to be extremely dry and damaged.
I used to dye my hair with Koolaid. :)
But yeah, bleach=fried hair.
noo especially if your black your hair will get damaged and break
lol it depends on who u are and looks isnt everything u know :Pmozila

But yeah, bleach=fried hair.
noo especially if your black your hair will get damaged and break
lol it depends on who u are and looks isnt everything u know :P
Highlights for asian hair? good idea or not?
Hi! I'm Chinese and my hair is naturally dark brownish to black. The top layer has natural brown highlights from the sun, but it's more of an all-over color, rather than streaky highlights.
I was thinking of getting streaky highlights. Do you think this is a good idea, or would it look trashy?
I also can't decide if I should go for a light brown, or more of a reddish brown. (The natural highlights I have are already brown, so I thought getting more brown highlights might end up looking too brown?)
I don't want to look too trendy, as I'm 27.
Thanks! :)Highlights for asian hair? good idea or not?
Dont get the highlights. asian hair is beautiful just the way it is. plus its not worth the damage and looks unnaturalHighlights for asian hair? good idea or not?

At home hair highlights? is this a good idea...?
Ok so ive been to the hairdressers and had my usual highlights done but when i got home i noticed when i tied my hair back that one side is quite streaky. It doesn't look right.
Now i have a Schwarzkopt home dye kit in my house and im wondering if you think i could dye maybe 4 or 5 strands of hair (the darker bits that are in between the highlighted bits) just to make it look more even? The boxed dye is the sorta same colour as my highlights.
Do you think this could work, it doesn't need to be perfect or anything.
Also. The hairdressers use foil, is this just the same as tin-foil or kitchen foil? Do you think i should use that?
Give me ideas ppl i cant be bothered driving alll the way back to the hairdressers to get them to do this.
ThanksAt home hair highlights? is this a good idea...?
NO no no
Go back to the hairdressers, yes it seems like effort, but when you've made your hair';worse'; you will feel worse and drive back there anyway. They should fix it free. I use a local branded hair salon and they do. You can never really tell whether you have good highlights or bad highlights till youve been in the wind anyway lolAt home hair highlights? is this a good idea...?
Don't do it...go back to the hairdresser. If there was a mistake, they should fix it at no charge. If you dye it, it might come out totally the wrong color and look worse.
If you paid her to do them, she needs to correct it for you free of charge! I know that you don't want to drive back there, but she really should fix it free of charge if you're not happy. If you try doing it yourself, it could be a big mess.
if you go to a hair supplies like sallys or alta they have the foil if thats what you want to do. i actually dont go anywhere to get highlights done i do them at home i know sallys for a fact has a package for blonde high lights and different shades do not bleach your hair for highlights you mix it with solution pull it through a cap put your mix on and cover than you use a hair dryer for ten minutes keeping ti warm and they look just as good. if the salon did way to much blonde pull through a cap where there is to much blonde and get a brown close to your color and do low lights

no no no no no!
my best mate did this shes got blonde hair and went for a few blu bits, it looked stupid made her whole hed look a funny colour cos of the reflection on her hair an every single person who saw it asked why she had blue in her hair an why she had dyed it.
men didnt get it and girls bitched about it, not good.
the only time i think this really works is with dark hair with a bit of red, otherwise it looks like one of them colour-my-hair-in barbies!
if you want a change why not go for a more subtle colour or go dark if you want a change that will be noticed!
I don't think it would be a really good idea because of the bright contrast. It would look a bit 'woah'.
Blue - definitely not.
Green - this will make your hair look like you've been in the swimming pool for too long!
If you want to go crazy then I recommend red.
If you want to dye it a more subtle colour then maybe brown.
:)
Good luck.
You should get some individual clip in extensions and test out what color you like the best. That way if you decide you don't like it, you're not stuck with it. Plus, you can switch up the colors whenever you feel like it!

My bestfriend has platinum blonde hair and she bought turquiose clip-on hair extensions yesterday. This might be a good alternative since it isn't perminent.
no i think you should leave them blonde or if u really want some colour make sure its NOT blue or green! do a brown it will look nice!
I think it would be awesome to have blue highlights.......I say go for it........
NO way your hair will fall right out!
sounds kool=) really

i know they arnt pros, but i need it done cheap. and i dont trust myself to put 2-3 colors in my hair. is it good to trust them? do they know what their doing? thankkks:)I want to get my hair highlighted by girls at a local beauty school, is this a bad idea?
It will look better than if you did it yourself but not as good as if you went to a good salon.I want to get my hair highlighted by girls at a local beauty school, is this a bad idea?
ask a friend 2 do it.. that works !!
well if u no they are good, then go for it! :)
but if you don't know how well they are then go to a different place ( a more proffesional place )
not to be rude or anything
Hope i helped! :)
I think you should be fine...be very specific with what you want, after all they make highlights that people themselves can do to their hair....and these are girls who have more experience than that, so :)
If you trust one of them go for it if they seem not as confident as you like don't do it
it can go green just think
